Römerhof Weinkellerei is a modern, innovative winery located in Trittenheim, Germany on the Mosel. Römerhof was founded in 1979 and acquired in1988 by the estate owner Heinz Eifel, whose family has been committed for many generations the winemaking. The family tradition is continued by his daughter Anne Spohr Eifel, who has been active in the company since 2001. The light, fresh style of German wines makes them particularly appropriate for people just beginning to enjoy wine. One German wine, in fact, has single-handedly introduced millions of people to the pleasures of wine. That wine is Liebfraumilch (LEEB frow milsh). Liebfraumilch today is a wine blended from several grape varieties, mainly Müller-Thurgau, and sometimes a little Riesling, Silvaner and/or Kerner. It can be produced in four of Germany’s wine regions: the Rheinhessen, the Pfalz (these two accounting for the great majority of its production), the Nahe, and the Rheingau. Liebfraumilch is, be definition, a medium-dry, QbA-level wine; it is usually low in alcohol and should be enjoyed as young as possible.
