Picchio Red is a ruby red blend of 60% Montepulciano and 40% Sangiovese with pleasing notes of wild cherries and red berries, this rich and silky red wine has an elegant finish. The name “Picchio,” in Italian, translates to “woodpecker,” which is the symbol of the Marche region, in particular the area of Ascoli Piceno. The vineyards face south on clayish soil that was once partially covered by the Adriatic Sea which left behind the minerals that make a rich growing region. With particular focus on specific aspects of sustainable vine growth, Domodimonti’s objective is to produce wines as naturally as possible with the least amount of additives.
