Situated 5 miles north of the prestigious St. Estephe AOC, the collective that produces Chateau Malaire has consistently made the finest Cru Bourgeois wines for more than three centuries. The climate of the region is an oceanic one with mild, humid winter and spring seasons and warm, dry summer and autumn seasons. The vineyard features Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) and Cabernet Franc (6%), growing on gravel based soil, and Merlot (50%), growing on limestone-clay based soil, our unique territory delivers rich and complex wines with minimal intervention. In fact, a long policy of sustainable agriculture has been embraced, not only to preserve the natural environment, but more importantly to allow Mother Nature’s influence to be fully expressed in every vintage. This wine is an even blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On the nose the wine is fresh and fruiting with raspberry, strawberry, plum, and fresh cut hay. The palate is frank and supple, showing fine balance and ripened red fruits. The lingering finish brings a hint of autumn.
The Médoc is a wide region in Bordeaux’s left bank. This wine will pair well with red meats and pastas with red sauce.
